PalamidaTM, a provider of software intellectual property (IP) management and compliance products and services, today announced general availability of IP Authorizer v1.0. The new product speeds the process through which enterprises incorporate third-party code in their software development, promoting compliance with corporate IP policy. Today's software projects contain contributions from many sources, and timely and efficient communication between developers, managers and counsel can speed decisions regarding the use of third-party software components and licenses, and keep development projects on schedule. Palamida IP Authorizer v1.0, a Web-based application, provides an automated, uniform system for managing the decision process surrounding third-party products and license use, before they enter into a company’s code base.

“IP Authorizer comes directly from requests from our customers who wanted to add the ability to automate what in many cases they were already doing manually,” said Mark Tolliver, Palamida CEO. “It’s a natural expansion of our product line, and we’re very pleased to be able to help our customers address more of their IP management and compliance business process.”

Uniform System for Managing Decision Process for Third-party Code and Licenses

Palamida IP Authorizer v1.0 provides a multi-tier, customizable workflow and a central system for developers to request permission to use third party products and licenses. When developers make a request, the product prompts them to include pertinent information such as planned use of the product as well as details of the implementation. The software inserts the license and product details associated with the request, including a description, copyright notices and other disclaimers. New requests are automatically compared to a database of previously approved and denied requests, and against the company’s IP policy, to enable instantaneous answers where possible. Instant approvals or denials are accompanied by a clear, detailed explanation and customizable use requirements. Where previous approvals or denials are not relevant, the new request is automatically routed to legal counsel or business managers for review, depending on the company’s business process. Developers and managers can monitor the progress of requests through a dashboard that shows all submitted requests and their status. With this visibility, development managers and counsel can track all requests to analyze compliance against a company’s IP policy.

IP Authorizer v1.0

IP Authorizer v1.0 comprises “enterprise-ready” features that enable a company to deploy and manage the solution “in-house.” These include:

  • Multiple application server support including BEA WebLogic Application Server 8.1 and 9.1 and JBoss 4.0.2
  • Multiple database support including Oracle 9i release 2, MySQL 4.1 and PostgreSQL 8.0

Legal and compliance professionals can use the information for license audit trail and corporate governance purposes.
